Dr. Fraka Harmsen received her BSc and Ph.D. in Geology from Victoria University of Wellington in New Zealand, and later completed her postdoctoral work at the University of Montana. She also spent a year in residence at the Rosenstiel Oceanographic Institute at the University of Miami.

Her research projects have taken her to such far-flung destinations as Australia, Africa, South America, various Pacific islands, and on two occasions, to unexplored territory in Antarctica. Even her personal trips have a geology focus. “For our honeymoon,” she recalls, “I took my husband to Iceland, where we had to catch and saddle horses every morning as we rode through lava fields and across rivers, staying in shepherds huts and lodges in the interior of the country for a week.”

At present, Fraka Harmsen is a Special Advisor to the President of Cal State Chico. Read in details about Frederika Fraka Harmsen life at LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/fraka-harmsen-0802b817
